FAQ (Frequently asked questions):

  1. Why hire a contract bookkeeper? Hiring a contract bookkeeper will allow you to have all the benefits of an accountant’s expertise without having the expenses of a full time accountant. Furthermore, having a bookkeeper will allow you the client to concentrate on your business while we concentrate on all the paperwork that goes with being a bookkeeper.
  2. What does a contract bookkeeper do? A contract bookkeeper will take care of the services that the client requires and this can vary from business to business. We help build the services that you only require.
  3. Can I trust a consultant working off-site? Active professionals gives you the choice of actually storing your documents with us or keeping the documents at your location. We would be signing a confidentiality agreement that allows you to drop off your documents without any worries.
  4. Why should I store my financial data off-site? Storing your files off-site gives you the piece of mind that if anything happens at your place of business, than at least your documents or electronic files are safe and you won’t have any problems with any government agency. Did you know that you have to keep all your business documents for at least 7 years in case Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requests it?
  5. What should I expect to know when hiring a professional bookkeeper? When hiring a contract bookkeeper, you should clearly identify what work will need to be completed and what the charges will be? This should all be outlined in a signed contract. Furthermore, you will want to make sure that your bookkeeper is qualified to be able to handle all enquiries and documentation required by CRA.
  6. What amounts do you charge? Charges for bookkeeping cannot be identified without looking at the work required. Furthermore, charges might be more at the beginning as the client is not aware of how the documents should be brought in and thus would require more time to complete the tasks. As time goes by, one of our goals is to educate the client to minimize cost to the client. Please contact us to get an estimate of what it would cost for your bookkeeping needs.
  7. How often are you available to your clients? Availability is not limited in terms of Q & A but actual face-to-face meetings are scheduled in the evenings and weekends only. Furthermore, as long as we are continually working on your file, we don’t have a problem to get together and talk business.
  8. What kind of follow-up do you do? Our philosophy is to let the client concentrate on their business and we help guide them and lend support. This support would entail making follow-up calls when documents are required for us to complete the tasks required by your company.
